Zara meets Ecommerce

As many of you will know the Spanish super power of Zara have finally unveiled their transactional website! The 21st century has been embraced by retailer, although far to late. But has all been rectified in their new outlet?

The new website is offering up all elements Zara has to offer, Womenswear, Menswear, TRF, Children's and baby wear. All under one easy and sophisticated roof. A Zara shoppers dream? Possibly.

The website is incredibly easy to navigate, and most definitely the stylish high street retailer website i've seen, and i have seen many! The websites appearance mirrors exactly what we would see in store, the monochrome colour palette, with the stylised black and white photos and no fuss. Its clean and concise.

Delve further into the website and we can shop the clothes by category, and further filter the search by characteristics, colour, size and price ... however nothing new or exciting. Find some garments you are interested in and we can see several images, front, back and even design details and features. Accompanied by drop down menus of composition and care, delivery and returns. All the information is hidden, like i said no fuss, if you want to read it you can, otherwise its out of sight and not polluting our webpage. All the garments are photographed on a model which is very refreshing! Although some retailers already do this they are often inconsistent, on models and off. i personally prefer on models, its important to see how the clothes shape around the body.

So the shopping is easy, but what's it like when it comes to receiving the items? Well, Zara are offering up three methods of delivery. A free delivery to stores, yes a FREE delivery service! A great idea for the city folk who know they are not going to be in during the day for a home delivery, They also offer £3.95 standard delivery, which is the average price for this form of delivery. However for those wanting their shopping quick, they will have to put their hand in their pocket as it will cost them £9.95!! Too much for some i feel.

Although i love this website i must say several times i have clicked on pages and i have been shown an error message, no doubt these are early problems i'm sure Zara will correct in time! Perhaps now H&M will speed up their transactional website which is due to be unveiled by the end of this year! lets hope before the Lanvin collaboration.
