All Saints - Regent Street

On Friday I went had a spot of retail therapy during my lunch break, so as a fan of allsaints i went to check out the new Regent street store!
I remember stumbling across the recent store in notting hill at the start of the year and being amazed! It was a fine example of an allsaints outlet that encompassed all aspects o the brand and their identity. However the new Regent Store is in a whole other league. It spans 3 floors and offers a huge range of product! As usual the singer sewing machines are in the windows, with the rustic interior we are all used to.

I had a Allsaints gift card in my possesion, thanks to my flat mate, and felt the need to treat myself..... I ended up treating myself a little too much! I got my hands on two tops and a anchor necklace! The added bonus was the 25% off they have been offering all over the bank holiday weekend, what generous people! After such a rare opportunity I hope you all went out and treated yourselves!!
If you haven't seen the new store definetely stop off on your next trip to regent street!

The New 'New Man'

So as usual on Thursday morning I get the free weekly mens magazine, shortlist, as I enter the tube station, thie weeks edition shows a very striking red cover spelling 'MAN,' as a mens magazine that's no surprise. But opening the cover and flicking to the related article I found myself fully engrossed in the words, the article was thought provoking, comic and making perfect sense.

As we all know the idea of what a 'man' should be has changed over the years, the man's man, metrosexual, the new man .... But all that has changed according to this article, we are now looking for a balance between them. Yes it is still ok to like clothes and moisturise but now it is important for you to retain those defining masculine aspects. The new man is the mix between macho and metro, find that delicate balance, and you become 'apparently' what women want, the 'Rogue Male.'

In our modern day a 'man' has grown to be so much more, according to the article men should drive, but fight, in to sport but yet able to cook, have a beer and watch the game, but easily view a arty film with a glass of white. The new dimensions added create a more interesting, full and deep ideal for the man. I guess it combines the best bits of the man's man and the metrosexual, and why can't we match both? It's not as if these traits are contradictory.

According to shortlist these changes have been bought about by the changes in consumer culture and the rise in powerful women. It states ' Traditionally the male role is to be the provider, but female empowerment has muddied the waters, if men can't be providers, they can be protectors.' This also explains the rise in males partaking in contact sports, such as martial arts or kick boxing.

This is one of the best articles i have read in a long time, and who to think it from a free magazine! I throughly advise anyone read this if they have a copy and haven't done so yet, or pass it on to your boyfriends if you are looking for an upgrade! Plus a nice reassuring statistic was 60% of men will go and see Sex & The City 2 with their girlfriends..... does that make it ok for me to go?

British Soap Awards

Admittedly after moving to London i erased all soaps from my tv viewing, but after a recent call from a very good friend, she informed me of the latest from the British Soap Awards, and after seeing the pictures of the evening i feel compelled enough to blog it!

Back in the day i used to watch Hollyoaks religiously, and don't mind admitting that Sasha Valentine, played by Nathalie Emmanuel, was little crush of mine. Especially when she graced the screen in those Beyonce inspired gold hot pants and huge afro.......HOT! But at the recent soap awards i feel she took it to another level, wearing a gorgeous full length gown. She looked stunning with her radiant skin tone, the wind in her hair and displaying a stunningly curvy figure. Nathalie has come from a girl to a real woman while in Hollyoaks, she looked elegant and graceful, something rare for a soap star.

However she is not the only member of the Hollyoaks cast that deserves a mention. Bronagh Waugh, who plays the loud mouthed barmaid Cheryl, made a very big entrance. The actress wore a transparent shift dress, that luckily covered all the right places with black sequins, and no underwear underneath, a very brave move. Although i am not a massive fan on the dress, u have to respect her for being brave enough to flash the flesh.

Finally Loui Batley, who plays a model in Hollyoaks, 'Apparently' (can't see it myself). But her dress in my opinion is horrid, the feather skirt looks identical to the one available from Topshop last year, with some ridiculous customising that makes her look like a Xmas present.
